GET TO KNOW: South African Weightlifting Record Holder Mona Pretorius

    By Kirsten van Heerden | Features | 0 comment | 5 September, 2019 | 1
    1. What is your idea of perfect happiness?

Waking up every day with a smile on my face knowing I am doing what I love and I have the support from the people I love. Having a happy family with a dog of course and supporting each other no matter what is my idea of perfect happiness

    1. What is your pet hate?

Haha – when the house is dirty It drives me mad! I do not feel organized when my house is a mess. Also when people are late for something.

    1. What do you fear?

Spiders! But on a serious note being a role model is something I want to always be and reach my goals so I let the fear of not achieving that drive me to give my utmost best all the time.

    1. What is the strangest instruction your coach has ever given you?

A year ago when I was cutting weight for one of my competitions I was told to spit for like an hour to make the last bit of weight…. to me that was probably the strangest.

    1. What is your greatest extravagance?

Wow hmmm…. I love shopping, but I do know when to draw the line. I think if I there was something I could spend my money on it would be an amazing home gym.

    1. What words/phrases do you overuse?

Slay the dragon before the dragon slays you. A diamond is a piece of coal that was able to do its best under great pressure.

    1. What talent (outside of sport) would you like to have?

Singing. I love music, I just wish I had the voice for it…haha!!

    1. What movie/book should everyone watch/read?

Rocky!! All the Rocky movies have motivation, inspiration, romance and a kick ass story-line to it.

    1. What is your favourite place to rest?

In the sun:-) I would love to live by the beach again, but for now I would say whenever I get to relax in the sun it gives me that extra bit of life.
